My Island Home - Christine Anu Live at Sydney 2000 Olympics

Not the greatest quality version, but still the only one I could find on the net...
This is one of my favourite songs, Christine Anu's: Island Home - yes it is overly patriotic and emotional - blah - but I still LOVE IT .
About 18 months ago, Christmastime and home sick, I pulled my copy of Christine Anu's beautiful song out of my CD collection and stuck it in the CD player - I cried (roll your eyes with me).
I know I JUST posted about applying for permanent residency status in Canada; it is funny how the world shifts and creaks and plays out, but a bit of the proverbial shit hit the fan today. I won't go into detail about it just yet - early days and all- we'll wait and see how things pan out...but Australia is calling....

I've never really been a Christine Anu fan (meaning I have never even thought of buying any of her music) but this song of her's is lovely. Always has been.

You poor possum, hope you and the family are ok. You must be stressed if you're posting at 3am.

Thinking of you, you have my email if you want a chat

Oh gad...I hadn't noticed the posting time. You ARE in distress! Willing to listen when you're ready to share....
I've always admired those free spirits who could pack up and roam and feel at home wherever their travels took them. I couldn't do that. There's no prying my feet from my homeland. I hope your feet find their way back to yours.

I get all emotional over songs like that... Gee.. a couple of kids and then (as a surprise)the primary school principal, sang 'I am Australian' at the student council induction assembly the other week, and I had my tongue firmly planted on the roof of my mouth (a tip I heard about on Aust Idol this year, lol) to hold back the snivelling!.

The other one that gets me, despite the Qantas ads, is 'Still call Australia Home'.

And I'm here! I can imagine I would be a real mess if I was in your situation!

Good luck with what you decide to do. Were you really posting at 3 am?!!
