Fridays Feast

Appetiser
Who is your favorite news anchor/reporter? Why?

Rob Kelvin. He is a news reader from my hometown: Adelaide, South Australia.

I am not all that into news readers, but I have always felt a considerable amount of compassion for this man.

His son was kidnapped and murdered in 1983, and though, I never saw him read the reports concerning his son's disappearance or the subsequent proceedings against his son's murderer, he was present alongside his co-anchor, at least during the reports concerning leagl proceedings.

The boy was found dead, after being lost almost two months , and although I was only 10 when this boy disappeared, I always felt that it must have been terribly diffcult to present oneself professionally, while this private turmoil was taking place. He always seemed like such a nice man.

Soup
Name 3 foods that are currently in your freezer.

Raspberries (mmmm)
Falaffels
Frozen veggies

Salad
If you were to have the opportunity to name a new town or city, what would you call it?

Sunnybrook. 10 years ago, in Australia, I had a vision of being present in a place with a delightfully green park and a giant tree, like a majestic elm, spreading its sturdy limbs out before me, like assuring open arms. A woman with ash blonde hair, wearing a bright red jacket, was standing under the tree to greet me. Standing beside her, was a child, also wearing red. As I looked around this lovely scene, I asked the woman, "Why am I here?" She said "I don't know". Then I asked her "Where am I?" and she said "Sunnybrook". So in my effort to end the search for this idyllic spot, I would ensure that a large public park were created in the middle of the town, where a gentle creek ran nearby. I would plant an elm, in the hope that it developed similarly to the one in my vision, and I would name the town - Sunnybrook.

Main Course
What will most likely be the next book you read?
"Snow Falling on Cedars". A couple of days ago my friend said she would lend me her copy.

Dessert
What's the first thing you notice about the opposite gender?

Energy. It is not something you notice. It is something that grabs you, forcing you to delve deeper, with heightened curiosity. Then I notice a conglomeration of various physical attributes to justify why I was drawn to further scrutinise, this particular individual from the sea of faces that present themselves daily. You know what I mean? We don't notice everybody.

What a tragic and sad story. It must have taken strong will for him to be there while his co-anchor was giving the report.

Raspberries ... tempting.

Sunnybrook is a lovely name. It's nice how you described such a beautiful place.

Energy ... very interesting. I certainly like how you view life.

Take care!

And that was a great story of Sunnybrook. I love the way you described it.

I never read Snow Falling on Cedars but it's one of my favorite movies. :) Happy reading!

That is a tragic story -- I don't know if I could have been there if that had happened to me.

Sunnybrook sounds like a nice place.

Wow, the depth of your answers was really amazing. I especially loved your dessert. There's so much truth to it, but it's not something I've ever heard expressed.

What an interesting array of topics...from the sad to the sublime. You brought each course to life. I always enjoy reading you.....BUT, I am having a heck of a time leaving a comment. Anyone else having this problem? After entering those silly letters over and over...and I KNOW they're correct...then it tells me I can't post a blank page...when I've written all sorts of comment. That's when I give up. I am trying again.

Hiya strauss (or maybe that should be G'day, mate) :-)

Appetiser - used to be Monty the weatherman because he's quite funny but now, I guess it would be Sandra Sully simply because I'm a guy and she's cute.

Soup - frozen veggies, pizza pockets, and 500g of mince

Salad - Serendipity, I think (I loved the movie)

Main Course - a 50-year collection of science fiction (found it at the local book exchange the other day for $5)

Dessert - once upon a time as a younger man it would have been boobs or bum - now, it's the eyes or the mouth, eyes to drown in and the mouth because I enjoy a good kiss. :-)

I love your answer to what you notice first in the opposite sex! Energy - that's fabulous!
My feast is up too, if you want to check it out!

Thanks to everybody for all the kind comments, especially those regarding the energy thing. I have spoken about it before. It doesn't necessarily refer to the opposite gender either, we notice the energies of all sorts of people for all sorts of reasons - ever been in a store and a chill spontaneously runs down your spine concerning some people - that is the same thing. Anyway I notice energy a lot, and I know that might sound kind of stupid to some people, but I have noticed that my eyes tend to be drawn to someone only after the energy it felt.
Yes Kathleen, the word verification is a bugger of a thing, but I just hate spam comments - it is the only reason I persist with it.
Thanks for sharing your list Scotty ;)
